The soundboard of this dulcimer as well as the entire instrument is made from local AMERICAN CHESTNUT also called wormy chestnut the disease that killed off this species in the early 1900’s. This chestnut came from a dismantled school in Jefferson, NC circa late 1900’s. (Price: $495)

There are some characteristic tiny worm holes, mostly on the top, causing no problems only exhibiting a historic symbol of why american chestnut came to be called wormy chestnut. (Price: $495)

The fretboard is american maple from this region and has a very interesting grain and blends in well with the soundboard. A very interestingly grained CHERRY comprises this instrument. Very distinct dark cherry and brown lines follow the grain of both the top and back making for a one of a kind unique dulcimer.
