The soundboard of this hour glass mountain dulcimer is a very straight-grained piece of American CHESTNUT. The wood for this instrument came from an old elementary school that was demolished in the late 1970’s in Ashe county, NC. (Price: $495)

This entire mountain dulcimer is made from AMERICAN CHESTNUT except for the end blocks which are oak and blend in nicely with the chestnut. The sound holes are two elongated and traditional f-holes. There are a half-dozen worm holes on the soundboard and a dozen on the back, giving charm to the instrument. The sound is very warm, nicely mellow and pleasingly melodic. (Price: $495)
