The soundboard of this hour glass mountain dulcimer is a very straight-grained piece of American CHESTNUT. It has traditional f-hole sound holes. The rest of the instrument is black walnut.
The wood comes from an old elementary school that was demolished in the late 1970’s in Ashe county, NC.
The sound is medium loud, clear, warm and delightful.
